Berliner Philharmoniker - Europakonzert 2019
Witness the legendary Berliner Philharmoniker celebrate their 137th anniversary with the "Europakonzert" 2019 in the Paris Musée d'Orsay.
Every year the Berliner Philharmoniker perform their "Europakonzert", to celebrate their formation on 1 May 1882, and 2019 was no exception to this beautiful tradition.
This year the ensemble made a special statement: With their performance at the Musée d’Orsay in Paris, the focus of the celebration wasn’t just the jubilee of the Berliner Philharmoniker, but also the German-French Amity, which officially started back in January 1963, after years shaped by war and animosity.
Conducted by Daniel Harding, the musical director of the Orchestre de Paris, the orchestra played pieces by Wagner, Berlioz and Debussy, and for the first time in 18 years, famous bassbariton singer Bryn Terfel joined the Berliner Philharmoniker.
