UHD-HDR Livestreams at the Vienna State Opera
Experience three of the opera’s upcoming livestreams in a quality never seen before.
Together with Samsung, the Vienna State Opera offers selected performances in UHD (Ultra High Definition) and HDR (High Dynamic Range). The new technology stands out due to its heightened contrast and brightness, fuller and deeper colours and higher resolution. If you own a Samsung SUHD- or UHD-TV, you can now experience three of the streams in an exceptional quality via the Wiener Staatsoper App.
In the current season, the option is featured in the livestreams of Tosca (May 8th, with Angela Gheorghiu, Jonas Kaufmann and Marco Vratogna),Don Carlo (June 21st, with Ferruccio Furlanetto, Ramón Vargas, Plácido Domingo, Krassimira Stoyanova and Elena Zhidkova) and the new production of Pelléas et Mélisande, directed byMarco Arturo Marelli (June 30th, with Benjamin Bruns, Simon Keenlyside and Olga Beszmertna; conducted by Alain Altinoglu).
With this first worldwide UHD-HDR live programme, the Wiener Staatsoper once again takes the lead in the development of new capturing and TV technologies as it did with its regular UHD live streaming – still globally unrivalled.
Upcoming streams in UHD/HDR:
8 May 2017 | Giacomo Puccini: Tosca
21 June 2017 | Giuseppe Verdi: Don Carlo (Italian)
30 June 2017 | Claude Debussy: Pelléas et Mélisande
