Although the musicians of the Berliner Philharmoniker are familiar faces to regular visitors to the Digital Concert Hall, we have regularly been asked by our users over the years to introduce the individual members of the orchestra – a wish we would now like to fulfil with our new series "The Berliner Philharmoniker and their instruments". As the title suggests, these short portraits do more than just introduce fascinating musical personalities. The focus is also on the orchestral instruments: their history, their individual qualities and the particular challenges they present to the performers.

The first episodes featuring Ludwig Quandt (cello), Máté Szucs (viola), Dominik Wollenweber (cor anglais), Andreas Ottensamer (clarinet) and Noah Bendix-Balgley (violin) are now available for viewing free of charge in the Digital Concert Hall, and further portraits will be added to these at irregular intervals.
