Actor, comedian, opera director, and legend – Otto Schenk turns 90!
Happy birthday, Otto Schenk! The legendary actor is turning 90 on 12 June. You can see some of his best performances on-demand on fidelio. In 2008 he successfully directed Wagner’s “The Mastersingers of Nuremberg” in the Wiener Staatsoper with Christian Thielemann. The Kurier praised it “nearly six hours of pure enjoyment”. In 1972 Otto Schenk directed and starred in the opera film “Die Fledermaus” with Gundula Janowitz and Eberhard Wächter – a gem that can also be streamed on fidelio.
