CD:
Blomstedt, Bamberger Symphoniker – Mahler 9
In their first joint CD release, the Bamberger Symphoniker and their honorary conductor Herbert Blomstedt present a riveting Mahler Ninth.
In a time where few real surprises happen in classical music, one of those surprises may certainly be the fact that Herbert Blomstedt and the Bamberger Symphoniker, who over more than 35 years have performed almost 200 concerts together, until now had never appeared on CD together. Accentus Music now closes this gap and presents a riveting recording of Gustav Mahler’s Ninth Symphony, realized in coproduction with BR Klassik.
Blomstedt, honorary conductor of the Bamberger Symphoniker since 2006, leads the orchestra through Mahler's 9th Symphony and together they carve out the full range of this masterpiece. They trace the emotional roller coaster that Mahler put into music and bring all the feelings between deep longing, consolation, and melancholy to life.
