The Echo Klassik, one of the best established and most well-known music prices in the world, has just been awarded for 2016. Anna Netrebko received the award for “female singer of the year” for her role as Lady Macbeth in the Met’s Macbeth. We would like to take this opportunity to present this award-winning production from the “Met live in HD” series, distributed for TV by Clasart Classic:

Verdi's Shakespearean drama Macbeth starring Anna Netrebko in the vocally and dramatically demanding role of Lady Macbeth, is an undisputable highlight of the 2014/15 Met live in HD season. As the New York Times put it: “This was Ms. Netrebko's night… Her sound was plush yet smoky, her voice powerful yet unforced… This was incisive, exacting Verdi singing, with gleaming top notes. She is a soprano with star power in the best sense, a charismatic expressivity that pervades every element of her performance.”

Former Royal Shakespeare Company artistic director Adrian Noble’s acclaimed production, led by Met Principal Conductor Fabio Luisi, features a “luxurious cast” (Financial Times), also including Željko Lu?i? in the title role, Joseph Calleja as Macduff, and René Pape as Banquo.

After being awarded with the Echo Klassik, Anna Netrebko rejoiced how happy it made her to receive the award for this particular Met production of Verdi’s Macbeth: “We had such a great team with amazing colleagues and a thrilling production!”
