The highest Grand Prix award of this year’s Golden Prague was given to a documentary about an opera singer Soňa Červená. Olga Sommerová’s film Červená beat the competition of seventy two works from sixteen countries all over the world.

The registered films by forty producers and TV companies from all over the world competed in two categories – Documentary category about music, dance and theatre and Performing Arts category covering music and dance programmes including concerts recordings. The winner of the second category was a British film Young Men telling a story about the First World War particularly by means of music and dance. The winner of the Documentary category was a German film Silenced - composers in revolutionary Russia created at the time of the Russian revolution anniversary. It tells us about how revolution used many composers for the purpose of propaganda only to eliminate them afterwards.

The Dagmar and Václav Havel Foundation Vize 97 award was given to a Norwegian documentary From a Windfall. Kaleidoscope on Saturday, while the Czech Television award was given to a poetic Swedish film Axe. In this film the world-famous choreographer Mats Ek deliberately and in an attractive way ignores the ubiquitous dictation of the cult of youth and shows that the beauty of movement and human body has nothing to do with age.
