To advise the EMC on current policy issues concerning the European music sector, as well as to contribute to the smooth day-to-day running of the organisation.
We offer an inspiring working environment, international contacts in the fields of music and cultural policy and the opportunity to get an insight into all fields of the work of an international Non Government Organisation/NGO. This position is limited to 24 months, preferably starting on the 15th February 2017. As Policy Adviser you will join a young and enthusiastic team.

The main tasks of the Policy Advisor will include:
Advising the Secretary General on current policy issues concerning the music sector;
Coordinating the initiative “European Agenda for Music”, bringing together the European music sector;
Participating in consultations launched by EU institutions;
Formulating recommendations on funding programmes and relevant policy issues
Representing the EMC at international music and policy events such as trade-fairs and conferences;
Assisting the Secretary General to implement the EMC communication strategy;
Other duties (including administrative tasks) that contribute to the smooth running of the organisation.

You should be an open-minded, dynamic person who brings with them qualities such as:
Either a higher education degree in a relevant subject or significant experience working in a comparable environment;
Very good knowledge of the music sector at large, including for profit and not for profit organisations, professionals and amateurs;

Profound understanding of cultural policy issues at European level;
Senior experience in arts administration (public relations and project management);
A very good command of English and German (other languages would be an asset);
Excellent computer skills (including experience in working with social media);
Experience with Typo3, FileMaker or the Adobe Creative Suite;
The ability to prioritise workload and to work independently on individual projects;
Willingness to work flexible hours and to travel.

The salary will depend on qualification and work experience and be aligned with the German public salary system TVÖD.
