Verdi's Macbeth: Season opening of La Scala
07 DEC 2021 ON ARTE: ARTE presents the season opening of the Teatro alla Scala in Milan live on TV and on ARTE Concert.
Traditionally, the new season at La Scala in Milan opens on December 7, this year with a new production of Verdi's "Macbeth" directed by Davide Livermore and conducted by Riccardo Chailly. Giuseppe Verdi's Shakespearean drama features an all-star cast: Anna Netrebko and Luca Salsi.
Giuseppe Verdi's Shakespearean drama boasts an absolutely star-studded cast: Anna Netrebko, a regular also at La Scala in Milan, takes on the role of the unscrupulous Lady Macbeth in this production, who turns her husband into a regicide. Alongside the Russian-born soprano, Italian baritone Luca Salsi shines in the title role of the general Macbeth. This first-class cast is completed by the outstanding Russian bass Ildar Abdrazakov.
