The Berliner Philharmoniker live in cinemas
31 DEC 2024: The Berliner Philharmoniker’s New Year’s Eve Concert with Kirill Petrenko and Daniil Trifonov – live in cinemas!
New Year’s Eve concert with Viennese flair.
The Berliner Philharmoniker’s New Year’s Eve Concert has always been one of the sold-out highlights of every season – and you can enjoy it live in cinemas!
In 2024, the Berliner Philharmoniker’s New Year’s Eve Concert under the baton of chief conductor Kirill Petrenko promises Viennese flair. Hamburg’s Johannes Brahms and Munich’s Richard Strauss were both closely associated with the Austrian capital.
Star pianist Daniil Trifonov is the soloist in one of the most demanding concertos of the 19th century: Brahms’ Second Piano Concerto has an expressive spectrum that ranges from a restrained, mysterious dialogue between the horn and piano, the impassioned second movement and the dreamlike andante with its magnificent cello solo, to the sparkling finale.
Kirill Petrenko, a seasoned Strauss conductor, brings a dance-like atmosphere to the Philharmonie: In the second waltz sequence from Der Rosenkavalier, Strauss himself brought together highlights from the last act of his opera. A completely different, oriental-inspired atmosphere characterises the overtly sensual Dance of the seven veils from Salome.
