STAGE+ will stream LIVE from Tokyo Spring Festival
21 MARCH 2024: In 2024 the Tokyo Spring Festival celebrates its 20th anniversary. With Deutsche Grammophon they will broadcast two concerts LIVE in March.
This year the Tokyo Spring Festival will celebrate its 20th anniversary. Japan’s biggest classical music festival will run from March 15 till April 21, 2024. The festival comprises various concerts – including opera, orchestra concerts, chamber music and Lieder concerts – which will be held not only in concert halls but also museums and various places in Ueno Park, Tokyo. A central pillar of this programme is a complete cycle of Beethoven’s piano sonatas performed by one of its most eminent exponents: Austrian pianist and Beethoven connoisseur Rudolf Buchbinder. He released a complete edition of the Beethoven sonatas “Live from Salzburg” on Deutsche Grammophon in 2021.
STAGE+ will broadcast LIVE two of Buchbinder’s concerts from the Tokyo Spring Festival in 4K UHD. The first concert features some of Beethoven’s best-known sonatas, including the impassioned “Pathétique” and the expansive “Waldstein”; the second comprises the remarkable final three sonatas.
