Staatskapelle@Dresden – ARTE Concert and ZDFkultur
In cooperation with the Staatskapelle Dresden, ARTE Concert and ZDFkultur will show a range of attractive concerts in the upcoming weeks.
Even if the first signs of easing after the corona lockdown are emerging in the cultural sector, regular concerts or opera performances are far from being an option. The orchestras are facing the question of how and where they can perform their music. The Staatskapelle Dresden has now developed a concept for a series of attractive concerts in cooperation with the Dresden State Art Collections, which ARTE Concert and ZDFkultur will be making available online on a weekly basis in the upcoming weeks: “Staatskapelle@Dresden” on arte.tv/musikspieltwieder and zdfkultur.de. A compilation of the five episodes will be shown later as a TV broadcast on ARTE.
Members of the orchestra will appear in small lineups – nothing unusual for the musicians: chamber music has traditionally played an important role in the history of the Staatskapelle. The concert venues themselves are located in Dresden and are unique, including the state apartments and the small “golden” ball rooom of the Dresden Royal Palace, the latter has only been opened to the public last year after its reconstruction. In addition, the Gemäldegalerie Alte Meister, where the musicians will even play in front of Raphael’s famous “Sistine Madonna”. The Albertinum, which houses masterpieces of the Fin de Siècle, completes the small concert tour through Dresden.
