Live on Fidelio: Halka from Theater an der Wien
19 DEC 2019: Halka by Stanisław Moniuszko live from the Theater an der Wien. Staged by Mariusz Treliński, conducted by Łukasz Borowicz.
Fidelio will stream the new production “Halka” by polish composer Stanisław Moniuszko from the Theater an der Wien on 19 December.
Coproduced with the Teatr Wielki Warschau and staged by Mariusz Treliński, we are looking forward to this rarely seen opera, which musicologist Carl Dalhaus describes as “The Polish national oper”. Hans von Bülow described Halka's G Minor aria at the beginning of act II as “full of originality and lively passion, to which its strongly native folk element adds a special flavor...The entire gamut of erotic emotions, from the tender to the most vehement note of despair finds appropriate expression in this aria and one must genuinely congratulate the compose”.
We are looking forward to see American soprano Corinne Winters performing this aria, as much as we are looking forward to see the rest of the great cast: Piotr Beczała, Alexey Tikhomirov, Natalia Kawałek and many more.
Stream on 19 December at 19:00!
