DVD:
J. S. Bach – St. Matthew Passion
The first audiovisual production with the new Gaechinger Cantorey and Hans-Christoph Rademann will be released on double DVD in September 2017.
In 2017, Hans-Christoph Rademann and the Gaechinger Cantorey took on Johann Sebastian Bach’s St. Matthew Passion, the key work of Protestant church music. The exceptional concert impressively documents the new sound and superb manner of playing on historical instruments, which Hans-Christoph Rademann was able to hone in masterfully with the new Gaechinger Cantorey.
Bach’s St. Matthew Passion was performed at the Forum am Schlosspark Ludwigsburg. The Gaechinger Cantorey was joined by the educational program “Bach Bewegt! Tanz!” with 100 students from schools in the Stuttgart region, choreographed by Palucca pupil Friederike Rademann.
In this choreographed version of the St. Matthew Passion, the Internationale Bachakademie Stuttgart offers new dimensions to Bach‘s musical drama. And, for the one hundred schoolchildren who delved into Bach‘s monumental work and learned to dance as an artistic form of self-expression, it was an opportunity to experience the power of his music first hand. The interplay of professional musicians and young amateurs turned into a creative bridge for all involved.
