Founded in 2014 under the direction of Maria Grün, the cello quartet "Die Kolophonistinnen" consists of four young cellists with a passion for chamber music: Hannah Amann, Marlene Förstel, Elisabeth Herrmann and Theresa Laun. The name of the ensemble refers to the colophony, the amber-coloured tree resin, which creates the static friction between bow and string and makes the wonderful sound of the cellos possible.

Maria Grün, cellist of the Vienna Symphony Orchestra, teaches and looks after the young quartet with tireless commitment. The four achieve their first great success with a first prize at the National Competition of Prima la Musica 2015; a result which, to the great delight of the musicians, is again achieved in 2017.

Get ready for an interesting and diverse programme consisting of Christoph Wagenseil’s Sonata in C major WV 445/3 for four cellos (Vivace, Larghetto) followed by Dmitri Schostakowitsch’s Walz No. 2 (Suite for varieté-orchestra arrangement by Hannah Amann) and Mozart’s “Turkish March” (arrangement von Theresa Laun). Additionally, we will hear Florian Bramböck’s piece "Cellinnen und Außen" and Johann Strauß Jr.’s Wiener Blut / Waltz op. 354 (arrangement by Leonhard Roczek).
