The 2nd International Grand Piano Competition for Young Pianists (Artistic Director: Denis Matsuev) will took place April 29 through May 5, 2018, in Moscow, Russia.

The competition highlighted the talents of young pianists from around the globe. This year, 15 young virtuosos aged 11 to 16 competed for the first prize, performing some of the greatest masterpieces of the piano repertoire. They were accompanied by the Svetlanov Symphony Orchestra under the direction of Alexander Sladkovsky and Valery Gergiev.

The Competition kicked off April 29 at Conservatory Grand Hall. The celebrity lineup featured Denis Matsuyev, Svetlanov Symphony Orchestra and conductor Alexander Sladkovsky, as well as Alexander Malofeyev (piano) and Sandro Nebieridze (piano), Grand Prix winners of the 1st Grand Piano Competition.

Finalist auditions took place on the 3rd and 4th of May, 2018 at the Tchaikovsky Concert Hall and the results were announced at the Awards ceremony and gala closing on the 5th of May at the Tchaikovsky Concert Hall. All events were available live and VOD on medici.tv, grandpianocompetition.com and meloman.ru.
