The BTHVN2020 Jubilee programme boldly dares to present visions and projects for the future. What creative potential lurks in new technologies? How will we perceive classical music in the 21st century? What stagings and formats will appeal to us and our children? After 250 years of Beethoven, it’s time for experiments!
Beethoven’s musical impact on subsequent generations was enormous. Hardly any leading composer could escape confronting his music. For this reason alone, he must be considered a visionary.
Central projects of the BTHVN2020 main theme 'Beethoven as a Visionary‘ are FUTURA - a concert barge with music and experiments en route from Bonn to Vienna, the concluding festival of #bebeethoven by PODIUM Esslingen – ‘What’s musically radical in the 21st century?’, the New Music Base Camp, a Beethoven composition project for young people as well as virtual soundscapes and spatial experiments with music.
