Glyndebourne’s new Vanessa live online 14 August
Glyndebourne’s new production of Samuel Barber’s Pulitzer Prize-winning opera Vanessa will be broadcast live online from 6.30pm on Thursday 14 August.
Olivier Award-winning director Keith Warner makes his Glyndebourne debut with this production, which promises to bring out the psychological tensions that sit just below the surface of this charged work.
Jakub Hrůša returns to Glyndebourne to conduct the London Philharmonic Orchestra. Leading the cast as Vanessa is British soprano Emma Bell with French mezzo-soprano Virginie Verrez as Erika, Lithuanian tenor Edgaras Montvidas as Anatol, mezzo-soprano Rosalind Plowright as The Old Baroness, and baritone Donnie Ray Albert as The Old Doctor.
The opera will be broadcast on glyndebourne.com and will be available to watch on demand for one week following the live stream.
