The legendary Thelonious Monk is famous for his unique improvisational style and made numerous contributions to the standard jazz repertoire, including Ruby, My Dear – included in this recording.

Thelonious Monk is not only renowned for his compositions and improvisations which feature dissonances and angular melodic twists but also for his distinct look which included suits, hats, and sunglasses. Monk is one of only five jazz musicians to have been featured on the cover of Time magazine.
