Conductress Marin Alsop – Ambassador of Music
03 NOV 2019 ON ORF 2: A very personal portrait of conductress Marin Alsop who is the first female principal conductor of the ORF Radio-Symphonieorchester Wien.
The documentary shows a very personal portrait of the American conductress Marin Alsop, who will be the first woman to lead the ORF Radio-Symphonieorchester Wien as both principal conductor and artistic director as of September 2019. It is also the year of the orchestra’s 50th anniversary celebration.
In order to follow Alsop’s professional career, we meet the exceptional artist during various musical performances as well as in unpublished, private video footage. For instance, it shows the young conductor with her mentor and teacher Leonard Bernstein, whose assistant she became. In addition, musicians of various orchestras have their say, too, including Swiss conductress Sylvia Caduff. She paved the way for women who were ready to conquer the conductor’s stand. Finally, Marin Alsop will be experienced as a teacher with young conductresses.
