Accentus Music's CD Box wins ICMA
The Accentus CD box set of the string quartets of Dmitri Shostakovich is winner of the International Classical Music Award 2025.
We are delighted and proud to announce that our recording of Dmitri Shostakovich's 15 string quartets, performed by the exceptional Quatuor Danel, has been awarded Best Recording in the Chamber Music category by the ICMA jury! With its interpretation of this outstanding cycle, Quatuor Danel has established an unrivalled Shostakovich style that captures the full spectrum of emotions contained in Shostakovich's quartet cycle, from the ethereal to the profound, from the moody to the contemplative.
The jury statement reads:
“Few cycles match Shostakovich´s fifteen quartets for being such a mirror of the 20th century, its tragedies and its musical greatness: by taking on the arduous challenge of a complete recording, derived from live concerts, the Quatuor Danel achieves a feat worthy of the highest comparisons, for the instrumental brilliance of the performances and the sense of total commitment, and offers admirers of this music a reference point that everyone will have to take note of from now on.”
