During his current debut season as chief conductor of the Berlin Konzerthaus Orchestra, Christoph Eschenbach conducts all of Johannes Brahms’ symphonies. The second concert of the cycle, Symphony No. 3 will be performed on 28 February 2020.
Brahms played the piece on the piano before the world premiere to his friend Antonín Dvorák who was enthusiastic and very touched: “There’s a mood in it that you don’t often find at Brahms! What wonderful melodies can be found there! It is pure love and your heart opens up.”
