Marquee TV and OperaGlass Works: Turn of the Screw
0000: This exclusive production of Britten's spine-chilling opera is available to stream now on Marquee TV.
Marquee TV, the global platform for dance, opera and theatre on demand, has launched a new co-commission of Benjamin Britten’s spine-chilling chamber opera, The Turn of the Screw – available to watch exclusively on the channel now. www.marquee.tv
Presented and produced by OperaGlass Works, the opera was filmed in London’s oldest surviving music hall, Wilton’s Music Hall. Conducted by John Wilson and played by the Sinfonia of London, the production boasts a magnificent cast of singers: including Robert Murray and Rhian Lois.
The Turn of the Screw honours the spirit of the original theatre production directed by Selina Cadell and Eliza Thompson, while at the same time embracing the challenges of creating new work during lockdown, adopting a new hybrid form. With challenges also came opportunities – in working without an audience, directors and designers were able to use every corner of the extraordinary building, going beyond the constraints of the stage to tell the story.
This new chapter in co-commissioning demonstrates Marquee TV’s commitment to supporting the arts and artists through investing in the creation of original work, thereby helping to ensure a sustainable physical / digital hybrid future for the arts.
The Turn of the Screw is available to stream now on Marquee TV. Head to marquee.tv to start your free seven day trial.
