Earth, Wind & Fire Groove in Vienne
0000: In light of the upcoming Questlove documentary : reminisce the timeless funk, soul and groove of Earth, Wind & Fire at Jazz à Vienne.
Captured live at the Jazz à Vienne Festival in 2012, this concert celebrates the enduring energy and musical legacy of Earth, Wind & Fire, one of the most influential groups in the history of funk and soul. Performed in the iconic setting of the Théâtre Antique de Vienne, the show revisits the timeless repertoire that made the band a global phenomenon across the 1970s and beyond.
More than five decades after their breakthrough, Earth, Wind & Fire continue to inspire renewed interest, highlighted by the upcoming documentary directed by Oscar-winning filmmaker Questlove, premiering at the 2026 Tribeca Festival before its release on HBO and Max. Revisiting the vision of founder Maurice White, the film further confirms the enduring impact of a group whose music remains inseparable from the history of popular music.
Founded by Maurice White, Earth, Wind & Fire became renowned for their unique fusion of funk, soul, jazz and disco, combining sophisticated brass arrangements, rich vocal harmonies and infectious grooves. Classics such as September, Boogie Wonderland and Let’s Groove helped define the sound of an era while continuing to resonate with audiences across generations.
This 2012 performance captures the group’s remarkable stage vitality, blending musical precision with the celebratory atmosphere that has always defined their live shows. Driven by dynamic rhythms, powerful horn sections and polished choreography, the concert unfolds as both a retrospective tribute to classic funk and a vivid reminder of the band’s lasting cultural influence.
