Bohuslav Martinu documentary
Czech Television has started the preparations of the documentary devoted to the famous composer Bohuslav Martinu.
Bohuslav Martinu (1890-1959) is undoubtedly one of the great personalities of 20th century music, whose work blends the modern compositional trends of the first half of the 20th century and the Czech musical tradition. Martinu’s work contains 7 string quartets, various instrumental pieces, 27 concertos, symphonic pieces, 6 symphonies, cantatas, songs, 15 operas and 14 ballets. Czech Television in co-production with ARTE has started the preparations of the documentary devoted to the famous composer. This documentary will offer a profound analysis of the personality and music of Bohuslav Martinu against the background of the music during the composer’s lifetime. The documentary is due to be released in 2019 to commemorate 60th anniversary of Martinu’s death.
