Gordon Getty - There Will Be Music
Would you expect the son of one of the richest tycoons in the world to be a prolific composer?
The film is the story of the American composer, Gordon Getty, the son of J. Paul Getty, who at his death in 1976 was the richest man in the world and was the head of a family dynasty known for scandal: suicides, drug overdoses, and a kidnapping.
Filmed over the last 9 years on location in Napa, San Francisco, Mexico, Germany, Russia, Portugal and elsewhere, award-winning director Peter Rosen has had intimate access to the work of Gordon Getty during a most productive period. Camera crews were with Getty during the creation, rehearsal, recordings, and performances of two full-length operas, a cantata, and numerous solo and chamber works.
