Venice TV Awards Announced Winners 2023
The event, supported by the IMZ, awards the year’s television masterpieces.
Two weeks after the Venice Film Festival, international jurors met in Venice for the annual Venice TV Award. The event awards the year’s television masterpieces across 19 separate categories.
It was the work of the BBC that most regularly captured the attention of the judges, securing a total of three Gold Medals. AppleTV+ and Disney+ triumphed with two Gold Medals. NHK Japan earned two Gold Medals as well.
In the category Performing Arts won the New Year’s Concert of the Vienna Philharmonic 2023, Production: ORF (Austrian Broadcasting Corporation), Broadcaster: ORF (Austrian Broadcasting Corporation), Austria
These five productions were awarded nominees in the category Performing Arts:
THE CUNNING LITTLE VIXEN, Production: Unitel, Broadcaster: ORF III, Austria
MITTEN WIR IM LEBEN SIND – BACH6CELLOSUITEN, Production: Accentus Music, Broadcas-ter: NHK, Japan
The Snow Queen – Ballet on Ice, Production: Finnish Broadcasting Company YLE
Broadcaster: YLE TV2, Finland
In the Maze – The Musician Jörg Widmann, Production: sounding images, Broadcaster: BR/ARTE, Germany
Art is Our Voice, Production: NHK (Japan Broadcasting Corporation), Broadcaster: NHK, Japan
It is a special honour to see, that all the winners of the Venice TV Awards in the category Performing Arts, as well as the BBC and the ORF, are members of the IMZ. Congratulations to the winners, we are proud to be endowed with your trust and the quality of your content!
Elsewhere, one Gold Medal went to each of the following broadcasters: CBS, HBO, Globo Bra-zil, Mediacorp Singapore, TVPoland, Viacom18 India, TVI Portugal, and YLE Finland and in Ta-lent to Civica Scuola di Cinema Luchino Visconti.
“As a juror, I really enjoy seeing a fascinatingly broad range of filmmaking subjects and styles on displays,” said Alan Holland, BBC Studios‘ Head of Documentary.
