Ute Lemper: The magic of symphonic cabaret. OFUNAM

For this special concert, OFUNAM shares the stage with the incomparable Ute Lemper, possibly the most recognized voice in cabaret.

The OFUNAM's third season 2022 is decked out with a very special concert. Under the guidance of Iván López Reynoso, the Orchestra presents a symphonic cabaret experience with the extraordinary singer Ute Lemper, one of the greatest international exponents of cabaret music.

Lemper's imposing voice and her ability to sing in different languages create a sense of awe, and transports us from one country to another with each melody. The robust sound of the orchestra exalts the talented voice of the singer, who has been trained to offer different textures and moods. Both the musicians and the singer transport us to the first half of the 20th century and introduce us to that world of festivity and sensuality, marveled by timeless music and a powerful interpretation.

Ute Lemper's showmanship, charisma and seriousness help us immerse ourselves in the fantasy of cabaret, and OFUNAM completes the illusion by providing the music that only a philharmonic orchestra can achieve. Ute Lemper, with more than 30 albums, Grammy nominated, has had collaborations with Michael Nyman, Tom Wais, Elvis Costello, Philip Glass and Niky Cave. She is recognized for her international repertoire work and has musically adapted poems by Pablo Neruda and Charles Bukowski.

This gala program presented with the OFUNAM includes works by Marguerite Monnot, Jacques Brel, as well as the Argentinean Astor Piazzola, among others who left their mark on cabaret music, under the baton of Iván López Reynoso, guest conductor.
