The conductor PANG Ka-Pang and the young orchestra mix western classical music with Chinese tradition, both in instrumentation and in new symphonic works. The tour of the major concert halls in Germany, Austria and Slovenia will feature the famous Erhu soloist ZHU Changyao and the works in programme are almost entirely new compositions from China, being performed for the first time in Europe.
The special highlight to this tour: the new piano concert by composer Zhangzhao ‘Music and Landscape in Harmony’ will be interpreted together with European pianists. Music brings us together! We are very excited to introduce you to these wonderful musicians: Nadezda Pisareva, Kachnov Pavel, Aleksandar Serdar, Vladimir Milosévic, and ZHU Changyao. Together with the Suzhou Chinese Orchestra conducted by Maestro PANG Ka-Pang, they will perform new Chinese modern classical music in seven European cities.
The music is a unique experience. The Suzhou Chinese Orchestra has received the 2021 Music Theatre Award for it. It is a young orchestra. Most of the musicians are under 30 years old. They have been playing together for five years and young Chinese audiences are enthusiastic about their music. They rehearse in their own concert hall in Suzhou city, also known as the Venice of China because of its canals and beautiful parks. The conductor PANG Ka-Pang lived in Vienna during his studies. Here he made classical music his own. While studying in Beijing, he got to know the many intricacies of traditional Chinese music. Two years ago, Maestro PANG Ka-Pang was awarded the Austrian Music Theatre Prize for his combination of Western classical music and Chinese tradition. Do not miss the special timbre of the Suzhou Chinese Orchestra. Here you will find an overview of the venues and the programme:
