A Bruckner cycle, world stars and exciting debuts: look forward to a new season with the Berliner Philharmoniker and famous guests. All concerts will be broadcast live in the Digital Concert Hall – in outstanding audio and video quality.
Kirill Petrenko opens the season with the Fifth Symphony by Anton Bruckner, the 200th anniversary of whose birth is celebrated this year. Other highlights with the chief conductor include Beethoven’s Pastoral, Mahler’s Ninth Symphony, plus operas by Puccini and Rachmaninov.
This season’s Artist in Residence is the Korean keyboard wizard Seong-Jin Cho, who will perform Beethoven and Shostakovich. The orchestra also welcomes Wolfgang Rihm as its Composer in Residence.
Daniil Trifonov performs Brahms’s Second Piano Concerto under the baton of Kirill Petrenko at the New Year’s Eve Concert, and stars such as Riccardo Muti, Martha Argerich, Vilde Frang and film music legend John Williams return to Berlin.
