SF Dance Film Festival Announces 2025 Lineup
The San Francisco Dance Film Festival announces its 2025 Festival programming, presented in person and streaming online.
Experience the power of dance on film! The San Francisco Dance Film Festival (SFDFF) returns from 24 October through 09 November, featuring over 90 global dance films across 18 programs. In-person screenings take place at theaters across San Francisco with artist Q&As, panels, and live performances.
SFDFF 2025 opens with the world premiere of TILER PECK: SUSPENDING TIME, a six-year chronicle of the celebrated New York City Ballet dancer navigating injury and reinvention. Other feature documentaries follow visionary choreographer Sidi Larbi Cherkaoui, California’s own b-boy icon Wicket, and Syrian refugee-turned-ballet master Ahmad Joudeh. SFDFF’s history of presenting screendance continues with a diverse array of nine curated short film programs representing a variety of contemporary and traditional dance styles.
Can’t attend in person? SFDFF’s Online Festival streams worldwide from 10 November - 30 November. Streaming highlights include JUST DANCE THE STEPS, an intimate portrait of Dutch legend HANS VAN MANEN; THE BLACK PRINCE, a behind-the-scenes look at Royal Swedish Ballet’s Gustavia; and THE ALCHEMIST’S DANCE, a journey into the mind and movement of flamenco icon María Pagés.
Also streaming are three short film programs: SPOTLIGHT SHORTS, a collection of the most provocative short dance films from this year’s official selections; NARRATIVE SHORTS, where artists tell universal stories through the intimately personal language of movement; and DOC SHORTS, five powerful short documentaries.
