Rachmaninov Days in Moscow Philharmonic Society
Two nights in a row Tchaikovsky Concert Hall will entertain its patrons with all of Rachmaninov's piano concertos performed by Denis Matsuev.
On April 1 2018, the world will celebrate the 145th anniversary of Sergei Rachmaninov, one the greatest Russian composers.
Moscow Philharmonic Society will mark this event with two performances scheduled for April 1 and 2: two nights in a row Tchaikovsky Concert Hall will entertain its patrons with all of Rachmaninov's piano concertos performed by a stellar lineup featuring Denis Matsuev (piano) and Svetlanov Symphony Orchestra conducted by Alexander Sladkovsky.
Music critics from across the globe consider Denis Matsuev to be one the most distinguished performers of piano pieces composed by Rachmaninov. They especially single out the performer's solo CD Unknown Rachmaninov recorded on Rachmaninov's own grand at Villa Senar in Lucerne, that became Matsuev's landmark recording. For many years Denis Matsuev has been holding the position of Artistic Director of Rachmaninov Foundation, he had received a personal invitation from Alexander Rachmaninov, the composer's grandson.
Denis Matsuev plans to perform a program featuring all five piano concertos by Rachmaninov in a number of capital cities across the world.Moscow Philharmonic Society has scheduled live broadcasts of April 1 and 2 concerts at meloman.ru and medici.tv
