Plácido Domingo: 50 years at Vienna State Opera
The Vienna State Opera celebrates KS Plácido Domingo’s 50th anniversary on its stage with a gala concert – live at home.
On the 19th May 1967, the 26-year-old tenor Plácido Domingo first sung on the stage of the Staatsoper. This initial Don Carlo was only the beginning of a great career: Just in the Vienna State Opera, he performed more than 30 roles as a singer – be it as a tenor or as a baritone – and conducted eleven operas.
50 years of dedication are celebrated with a jubilee gala concert: Domingo and numerous guests – Marco Caria, Aida Garifullina, Ramón Vargas, and many more – will perform excerpts from three of Verdi’s masterpieces: Un ballo in maschera, La Traviata and Simon Boccanegra.
The whole concert will not only be streamed live on the square in front of the opera house, but also worldwide through the streaming service Wiener Staatsoper live at home (within 72 hours).
