Lucia Die Lammermoor
The ORF broadcasts the new production by Laurent Pelly from the Wiener Staatsoper live-delayed.
Gaetano Donizetti composed his Lucia di Lammermoor in a record time of only a few weeks - nevertheless, with this piece he created one of the most important and popular masterpieces of Italian romantic opera. Donizetti skillfully once again softened the rigid formal scheme of Belcanto opera and embedded the protagonists Lucia (Olga Peretyatko), Edgardo (Juan Diego Flórez) and Enrico (George Petean) into the emotional triangle of love, hate and passion. The highlight eagerly awaited by the audience is undoubtedly the extremely challenging scene of Lucia's insanity.
