Live: Grand Piano Competition (30 April - 5 May)
MAY 2021: Denis Matsuev presents: III International Grand Piano Competition for young pianists. Live on MEDICI.TV & MELOMAN.RU!
From 30 April to 5 May 2021, Moscow hosts the 3rd International Grand Piano Competition for young pianists. The concept of the competition was set up by the pianist Denis Matsuev, Chair of the Organising Committee and Artistic Director of the Grand Piano Competition. Over two successful editions, the competition has demonstrated all the advantages of its format, opening the way to the concert stage to many young and gifted pianists.
Following the traditions of the Russian piano school, the competition seeks to support young performers at the initial stage of their artistic careers through expanding and strengthening their international artistic networks and also to improve the standards of professional training at the piano departments of children's music schools and special music schools.
The competition will unfold on the stages of the Central Music School’s Concert Hall, Great Hall of the Moscow Conservatory, and Tchaikovsky Concert Hall of the Moscow Philharmonic. The contestants will appear with the State Symphony Orchestra ‘Evgeny Svetlanov’ under Alexander Sladkovsky and Yury Tkachenko.
Young pianists (under the age of 16) will compete in two rounds. Every contestant having passed the pre-selection may participate in both rounds of the competition, performing solo at the 1st round and with a symphony orchestra at the 2nd round. Only one of the five laureates will be awarded the Grand Prix, a Yamaha C3X hybrid concert grand.
