The celebrated baritone Christian Gerhaher gives his debut performance as Simon Boccanegra in a Zurich production of Verdi’s famous opera of that name. This will be the last new staging of a Verdi opera for Zurich’s General Music Director Fabio Luisi. Equipped with state-of-the-art technology, Switzerland’s largest opera house will be laying on a full orchestra and chorus, despite the pandemic.The Livestream of Simon Boccanegra is part of the third ARTE Opera Season, a European Opera Season that ARTE presents in partnership with leading opera houses from all over Europe since 2018 - available worldwide and with subtitles in six languages.
