International Telekom Beethoven Competition Bonn
Live stream of one of the world’s most prestigious piano competitions: 28 pianists from 17 countries. 1-9 December 2017
The International Telekom Beethoven Competition Bonn 2017 will kick off with a Welcome Concert on November 30 at 8:00 pm at Deutsche Telekom headquarters and continue in three rounds of competition before the final on December 9. The competitors - 28 young pianists from 17 different countries - were selected from a field of 88 applicants and will now face off in Beethoven’s birth city.
The musical programme will focus on Ludwig van Beethoven. In each round of the competition, Beethoven’s work will be set against a different period in music history: first the Baroque era, then German Romanticism, followed by classical modern. In the final round, the remaining three contestants will interpret a Beethoven piano concerto, accompanied by the Beethoven Orchestra Bonn under the direction of Dirk Kaftan.
The competition winner will receive €30,000, the second-place and third-place finisher €20,000 and €10,000 in prize money – awarded by the top-class ninemember jury, led by jury chairman Professor Pavel Gililov.
Furthermore several additional prizes will be awarded based on the audience's feedback: both “live” and online listeners will vote for the winner of the Beethoven-Haus Prize and the Deutsche Telekom StreamOn Beethoven Award.
klangmalerei.tv is commissioned by Deutsche Telekom AG to produce a multi camera live stream of the entire event. The stream will be made available on the website and the Facebook page of the competition.
