Günther Rennert's witty production has been staged well over 400 times, and now the German actor, director and stage designer Herbert Fritsch is restaging the popular opera.
He has an outstanding ensemble of singers at his disposal, who also excel in acting. Under the musical direction of Michele Mariotti, Juan Diego Flórez (Count Almaviva), Vasilisa Berzhanskaya (Rosina), Étienne Dupuis (Figaro), Paolo Bordogna (Bartolo) and Ildar Abdrazakov (Basilio) ignite the melodic fireworks in Rossini's score, which is rich in catchy tunes. A few days after the premiere, ORF will show a recording in Leopold Knötzl's visual direction, and Teresa Vogl will present the entertaining intermission programme.
