Europe@Home on ARTE Concert
05 MARCH 2021: Violinist Daniel Hope invites Europe to his living room in Berlin for a series of 27 concerts, one for each member state of the European Union.
Europe is the star of Daniel Hope's new series Europe@Home. Every Friday to Sunday, at 7 pm live on ARTE Concert, the star violinist and winner of the European Cultural Prize will meet guests from all over Europe to celebrate the musical diversity of our continent. Over nine weeks, Hope will present the music and culture of the 27 member states of the European Union in his living room on a total of 27 evenings. The livestreams are accessible to music lovers worldwide. Classical compositions, traditional folk tunes as well as contemporary pieces of all genres will be performed in Hope's Berlin living room.
Europe@Home will present artists from the fields of classical music, jazz, pop, literature and drama. Guests already confirmed include Nils Landgren, Herta Müller, Michael Barenboim, Camille Thomas, Michael Wollny, Kunal Lahiry, Slavka Zamecnikova, Matthias Samuil, Julien Quentin, Kiveli Dörken, Daria Tudor, Stepanka Pucalkova, Andrej Ionita, Gediminias Gelgotas, Martina Filjak, Tanja Sonc, Jelena Kordic, Jonian Ilias Kardesha, Marie Hauzel, Raúl da Costa and fado singer Maria Carvalho.
The new format Europe@Home is part of the #WeReStillOpen campaign, which ARTE launched last year in the course of the lockdown in cooperation with various cultural and media partners. ARTE wants to continue to give artists a platform for their work through livestreams without an audience and to satisfy people's need for cultural experiences.
