Romantic opera Der Freischütz stands as Weber’s best-known work and is certainly the most popular of his operas. This contemporary staging from La Scala in October 2017 is made by the German theatre director Matthias Hartmann. The cast includes the sought-after sopranos Julia Kleiter (Agathe) and Eva Liebau (Ännchen), the Viennese tenor Michael Kraus (Max) and the Viennese bass Günther Groissböck (Kaspar).
