Don Giovanni - Live From the Salzburg Festival
07 AUG 2021: ARTE presents "Don Giovanni" from Salzburg on ARTE Concert and on TV - directed by Romeo Castellucci and conducted by Teodor Currentzis.
"Don Giovanni" is one of Mozart's most successful works to this day. First performed in Prague in 1787, the opera tells of the timeless theme of a man who oscillates between vitality and destruction, always in search of new women who will give him pleasure. Nothing can stop him in his rush to conquer: no morals, no law.
Romeo Castellucci as a visually powerful theatre artist and Teodor Currentzis as a charismatic conductor are jointly responsible for this new production at the Salzburg Festival 2021. They are both interested above all in digging deep into the characters. The musicAeterna orchestra and choir from St. Petersburg, founded by Currentzis, have already impressed the audience several times with their virtuoso playing.
ARTE presents "Don Giovanni" live (time delayed) on ARTE Concert (arte.tv/salzburg) and on TV on Saturday 7 August 10.05 pm (CEST).
The opera broadcast will be subtitled in three languages (German, French, English) on ARTE Concert and will be accessible throughout Europe.
