Two chamber music highlights at Flagey on 21 April 2026 bring together emerging talent and seasoned artistry. Austrian pianist Lukas Sternath, named a “Rising Star” by the European Concert Hall Organisation (ECHO), presents a program of striking emotional contrasts. From the dramatic intensity of Liszt’s Funérailles to the introspective depth of Schubert’s final Piano Sonata in B-flat major, his performance moves between turbulence and stillness with remarkable sensitivity.

Later that evening, longtime collaborators Alexandre Tharaud (piano) and Jean-Guihen Queyras (cello) celebrate thirty years of musical partnership. Their festive program weaves together Baroque, Romantic, and modern repertoire with elegance and refinement. Revisiting composers who have shaped their journey – from Poulenc and Brahms to Marais, Britten, and Debussy – the duo illuminates each work through their subtle interplay and meticulous attention to detail. Describing themselves as “partners in crime,” Tharaud and Queyras captivate audiences with a dialogue that is both precise and deeply expressive.

Together, these two concerts offer a rich panorama of chamber music, where youthful brilliance meets seasoned artistry in an intimate evening of profound musical expression.
