CD:
Saimir
The new album from Saimir Pirgu, the "Tenor from the dark side of the moon".
Saimir Pirgu figures among the brightest stars in today’s international operatic firmament. “Exceptionally boyish, gently ardent and at ease in stratospheric flights” (Financial Times), the “sweet-voiced, energetic tenor” (The New York Times) has been celebrated at every major international operatic venue, including The Metropolitan Opera, Teatro alla Scala, Vienna Staatsoper, The Royal Opera House, Paris Opéra, the Bolshoi Theatre, Berlin Staatsoper, Deutsche Oper, Opernhaus Zurich, Gran Teatre del Liceu, San Francisco Opera, Los Angeles Opera, Sydney Opera House, Arena di Verona, Salzburg Festival, Vienna Musikverein and Amsterdam Concertgebouw.
In this album, he takes us on a personal musical journey, with a selection of arias guided by the vocal inspiration of his mentor Luciano Pavarotti. An intimate reflection on Pirgu's career past, present and future, this collection of arias traverses the romantic tenor landscape of the 19th and early 20th centuries, taking the listener on a musical voyage across Europe.
He is accompanied by Orquestra de la Comunitat Valenciana, conducted by Antonino Fogliani.
