With a remarkable career that started at a young age, Mexicanusic director Carlos Miguel Prieto is considered one of the most all-round conductors and artistic directors in the world these days.
He's music director of the Orquesta Sinfónica de Xalapa and the Orquesta Sinfónica de Minería, since 2006. He is also music director of the Louisiana Philharmonic Orchestra and the Huntsville Symphony Orchestra. He has also perfomed with diverse orchestras in the US, like Dallas, Houston, Chicago, Indianapolis, and Florida, among others. He has also conducted orchestras in Germany, France, Italy, Russia, Spain, Corea, and every country in Latin America. In 1998 he won the Mozart Medal for his career in music.
His role as artistic director in the Orquesta Sinfónica de Minería (the symphony orchestra of the Palace of Mining, which is the orchestra from Mexico's UNAM) is of great importance since he decides the themes to perform in each season, arranging the ensemble, conducting the performances, rehearsals and concerts, and managing the orchestra.
