As San Francisco Dance Film Festival (SFDFF) enters into its 14th season of presenting innovative and impactful dance film, the festival is calling for a wide range of dance-focused films to present on its internationally acclaimed platform.

SFDFF's curation represents a broad spectrum of the dance and filmmaking communities. Filmmakers can submit to the following categories: Art/Experimental, Documentary Feature, Documentary Short, Live Performance Capture, Narrative Feature, Screendance Short, Student Film. Selected films will be considered for festival awards and for SFDFF touring reels that reach audiences around the world.

SFDFF 2023 runs 1 - 8 October with select in-person programs alongside a virtual festival streaming internationally. Regular submissions are open through 16 April and late submissions will be accepted until 8 May.

In advance of October, SFDFF has several additional opportunities to engage with the art of screendance. Educational and cultural institutions and emerging film festivals are eligible to present our touring reels of curated shorts, an accessible way to bring the best of international dance film to local audiences. Interested parties can submit an inquiry here: https://www.sfdancefilmfest.org/sfdff-on-the-road/

We also invite all screendance fans to follow us on social media and be the first to learn about new initiatives, including the relaunch of our Encore Shorts film series. SFDFF can be found at @SFDanceFilmFest on all platforms.
