Berliner Philharmoniker's New Year’s Eve concert
LIVE in cinemas: The New Year's Eve Concert with Daniel Barenboim.
The Berliner Philharmoniker’s New Year’s Eve concert, always one of the concert highlights of each Philharmoniker season, will be broadcast live at 17:00 (in Berlin) on 31 December in more than 250 German and international cinemas with Daniel Barenboim as soloist and conductor.
Daniel Barenboim, one of the long-standing musical partners and friends of the Berliner Philharmoniker, opens the concert as the soloist in Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart’s brilliant Piano Concerto in D major, the “Coronation” Concerto. This is followed by four famous works by Maurice Ravel, in which the composer creates manifold musical images of Spain: the Rapsodie espagnole, Alborada del Gracioso and the Pavane pour une infante défunte. To close, the Berliner Philharmoniker will send their audience off into the New Year’s Eve festivities with the Boléro, perhaps the most famous crescendo in the history of music.
The cinema presentation starts at 17:00 (in Berlin) on 31 December. In addition to the concert broadcast, there are exclusive interviews and in-depth introductions to the works with insights into the work of the Berliner Philharmoniker on offer. A
