Benvenuto Cellini in cinemas and on DVD
Terry Gilliam’s spectacular production of Berlioz’s first opera filmed at the Dutch National Opera in 250 cinemas and on DVD/Blu-ray.
With his first opera, the French composer Hector Berlioz went directly for the grand gesture. Having read the memoires of the sixteenth-century goldsmith Benvenuto Cellini, he identified with this advocate of personal freedom and the independence of art.
Benvenuto Cellini will be shown in 250 cinemas in Europe, Morocco and Canada from the 12th of April by FRA Cinéma and will be released on DVD/Blu-ray in May by Naxos.
A co-production between Dutch National Opera and FRA Productions, in association with ARTE France, with the participation of NHK, and with the support of CNC.
