In celebration of Beethoven year all of Beethoven’s piano sonatas, also known as the “New Testament” of piano music, were performed by none other than world-renowned pianist Igor Levit in this year’s Salzburg Festival. Igor Levit is a German-Russian pianist who focuses on Bach, Beethoven and Liszt.
“Warm, quiet, but carrying, singing and beautiful, like an invitation that cannot be declined, sounds the first chord of Beethoven’s F sharp major Sonata op.78 under Igor Levit’s hands. [...]. From the first note, everything is tonally balanced,” praises Jan Brachmann of the Frankfurter Allgemeine.
