Bartók, Bruckner, Brexit: Simon Rattle + The LSO
Before his magnificent concert in Luxemburg, the heart of the EU, we spoke to Simon Rattle about Bartók, Bruckner and his views on Brexit.
It all took place at the Philharmonie Luxembourg, in an area filled with some of the European Union’s most important buildings. Before his magnificent concert with works by Bartók and Bruckner, we got the chance to ask Sir Simon Rattle for his views on Brexit. After a brief pause, he responded with an arresting metaphor: he felt “as if I was living in Pompeii and the citizens of Pompeii had voted for the volcano”.
