Barrie Kosky’s production of Saul streams in July
Barrie Kosky’s visually spectacular staging of Handel’s oratorio Saul will be shown for free on the Glyndebourne website from 6.30pm on Thursday 26 July.
Filmed live at Glyndebourne Festival 2015, where it premiered, the production is the second of three broadcasts from Glyndebourne this summer. The recording will be available to watch on demand for one week on glyndebourne.com and screened in cinemas across the UK.
The production pairs baroque music with contemporary choreography and lavish designs to create an enthralling theatrical fusion of old and new.
Christopher Purves performs the title role, with Iestyn Davies as David, Lucy Crowe as Merab, Sophie Bevan as Michal and Paul Appleby as Jonathan. Ivor Bolton conducts the Orchestra of the Age of Enlightenment.
